The Iran/Canada co-production by Kaveh Mazaheri will be attending the 6th edition of the MINIKINO FILM WEEK (MFW) – Bali Int’l Short Film Festival.
‘Funfair’ is a short film about members of a family who risk their lives to earn more money in order to escape a life of destitution.
Included in the long list of ‘Funfair’ 2020 international screenings is the 6th Herat Int’l Women’s Film Festival in Afghanistan, the 2020 KFF MARKET - Krakow Film Festival in Poland and 14th SorsiCorti is a Short Film Festival in Italy.
Recently, the 15th European Independent Film Festival (ECO) in France has lauded Mazaheri's short film.
The film has also been accepted into the competition programs of the 4th Akbank Short Film Festival in Turkey, 18th Geneva Int’l Film Festival and Forum on Human Rights (FIFDH) in Switzerland as well as the 15th Dieciminuti Film Festival in Italy.
‘Funfair’ has been qualified for Oscar 2021 after winning the best short film award at the 32nd edition of Foyle Film Festival in Derry, Northern Ireland.
The film's further accolades also include a Special Mention for Best Screenplay at 'Court en Scène' Film Festival in France, a Special Mention for Best Foreign Film at Winchester Film Festival in the UK, and the 'Good Fylm Best Short Award' at the 18th edition of Cornwall Film Festival in the UK.
Besides ‘Funfair’, Farzin Saeed’s ‘Longer/than/ever’ will also have its international debut screening at Bali.
Bali International Short Film Festival is designed as an annual event. Minikino Film Week (MFW) was founded in 2015 as a unique and out of ordinary International Short Film Festival in Bali.
“The screens are arranged to provide opportunities for people to re-experiencing the collective film viewing; furthermore, to build a space to discuss about their experiences, promoting critical thinking of what they have just watched,” mentioned by the festival’s official website.
The event is slated for September 4-12, 2020 in Bali.
